About BBOLT
Beautiful Beaufort Open Land Trust (BBOLT) is rooted in a single mission: to conserve and protect Beaufort’s natural, cultural, and historical landscapes in perpetuity.
Founded by a group of passionate individuals, BBOLT ensures that the soul of the Lowcountry—the ancient oaks, open marshes, farmland, and heritage properties—remains a living legacy.

Our Core Values:
Permanence
We believe that true conservation means forever. When we protect land or structures, we do so with legal tools and long-term strategies that ensure these places will never be lost to development or neglect. BBOLT’s commitment is not short-term, it’s generational. Our work today is designed to outlast us, preserving the natural beauty and heritage of Beaufort for our children, their children, and beyond.
Community
BBOLT is powered by people; landowners, neighbors, donors, volunteers, and local leaders who care deeply about this region. We work hand-in-hand with our community to protect the places that make Beaufort unique. Conservation isn’t something we do alone, it’s something we do together. When the community is engaged, empowered, and connected to the land, preservation becomes a shared legacy.
Stewardship
Preservation isn’t passive, it’s a lifelong responsibility. We serve as dedicated stewards of the land and historic structures entrusted to our care, ensuring they are not only protected, but respected and well-managed. We offer guidance, support, and partnership to landowners and conservation allies who share that sense of duty. At BBOLT, stewardship is more than maintenance, it’s a promise to uphold the integrity of every acre and artifact we protect.
Legacy
Land conservation is one of the most meaningful gifts a person can give to the future. It tells a story of values, vision, and love for the place we call home. Through BBOLT, individuals and families can turn their personal commitment to Beaufort into a lasting impact that will speak for generations.
